Villa rental Capri, Villa Caprice, a seafront luxury villa rental in Capri, lays directly on beachfront right above the shore line,
immersed in a vast area of gardens and terraces. The luxury villa rental is built
above the former villa Palatium or The Palace by the Sea, of Roman
Emperor Caesar Augusts in Capri. Some of the original villa’s remains can still
be seen in parts of the luxury Villa Caprice.
HISTORICAL OUTLINES:
This amazing luxury villa, built during the second half of the 18th Century on
the remains of an Anglo-English fort, was initially inhabited by an
infamous Hungarian painter, who built the property on top of the ruins
of a Capri Roman Palace. Subsequently, the property was bought by a famous
French painter who hosted many renowned musicians and composers in his
Capri home. According to legend, the composer Bizet, while vacationing here in Capri at the actual villa Caprice,
remained so inspired by the sounds of the sea that he composed one of
his most famous pieces of work, the Opera Carmen. The luxury property then
passed to a famous foreign Countess, Mona Strader Bismarck, in the mid
20th Century.
