VILLA DORIA

For those looking for total relaxation in the heart of Tuscany, Villa Doria is the ideal hideaway, situated in a tranquil region with gently sloping hills. This stunning 17th-century property, which is tucked away on a hillside close to the charming town of Lucca, has been expertly restored while maintaining the feel of a classic Tuscan farmhouse. Villa Doria has sixteen bedrooms distributed over two storeys, sleeping up to thirty-two people.

The expansive lawns are accessed from the villa's precisely designed fine gravel pathways, a feature shared by all formal Italian homes. Beneath a spacious white canopied gazebo are tables and seats. The walled formal gardens, which have been faithfully recreated from the original gardens of the 1600s and feature a sizable fountain, can be reached via a paved road or a set of steps. These gardens are perfect for leisurely strolls in peace and quiet. The manicured gardens overlook a charming village and the valley below.

The enormous swimming pool area is located just past the formal gardens. It is covered with roses and jasmine that climb up two sides of the stone walls to create a canopy for shade. The scents of rose, jasmine, citrus, and herbs are particularly strong. A stroll through the rose-scented garden transports you back in time and lets you appreciate the design that made Italian gardens famous in the sixteenth century by bringing order and proportion to the natural world.

The villa's ground level features a light-filled playroom furnished with quaint Italian-style sofas, armchairs, and coffee tables. It has a door leading to a fully furnished study, TV, and games. A big dining room with elaborate frescoes and a large table sits adjacent to the den. A large, contemporary kitchen with all the appliances follows. There is a pantry and laundry room right next to the kitchen. Four guest bathrooms as well as an elevator are located on the ground floor.

The newest section of the house has five newly constructed bedrooms with garden views on the first floor. Each of the five double bedrooms has an en suite bathroom; two have a shower, and three have a bathtub as well as a shower. On the ground floor of the newest part of the house, together with an open-plan living and dining area, you will also discover a professional kitchen, a massage room and two guest bathrooms.
