VILLA MARELLA

3 Bedrooms  |  6 Sleeps  |  Amalfi Coast and Positano
About Villa

On the Amalfi Coast, in Praiano, is where you can find Villa Marella. It is roughly 10 km (6 ml) north of Amalfi and 7 km (4.5 ml) south of Positano. It provides the ideal harmony for a blissful, unwinding getaway.

The tranquility of a small town home in the Mediterranean style is combined with the proximity to two of Italy's most stunning and vibrant seaside locations, complete with restaurants, shopping, sights, and cultural events.

With the enchanting village of Positano to the right and the Island of Capri and its renowned Faraglioni in the horizon, the Villa boasts a 180-degree view of the Mediterranean. The current owners thoroughly renovated the 16th-century olive oil mill, Villa Marella, between 2003 and 2006.
Modern and elegant features were added to the property, but the structure and some of its distinguishing elements—such as the arches, cupola ceilings, and even a lucky stone atop the upper master bedroom—were preserved.
A stereo system that was piped into every room, including the bathrooms, an electronically controlled wiring system, round-the-clock DSL Internet connection, and an incredibly quiet central air conditioning system with a dual system for heating in the winter are all included. It is a year-round residence.
High-end modern appliances blend seamlessly with handmade features in the kitchen and bathrooms, like travertine marble sinks and antique Neapolitan tile backsplashes.

The two-story Villa features two fully self-contained apartments, each with a kitchen, bathroom, and outside patio. A stunning infinity pool (about 10,5 x 4,5 meters, 1.6 meters deep) on the third floor gives you the impression that you could swim into the ocean in front of you.
There is a fantastic covered limonaia, or lemon tree pergola, on the fourth terrace, where you may relax in peace and quiet with a drink or on a lounge chair.

Accommodations. The about 120 square meter upstairs apartment has two bedrooms and two bathrooms and sleeps four. The downstairs apartment has a huge bedroom, bathroom, and guest WC. It is around 65 square meters and sleeps two.

Upstairs. You enter a terrace above the property from the street level entry. You descend about twenty exterior steps to a spacious terrace made of terracotta tiles that offers an amazing view of the sea.

The patio is outfitted with a set of wicker furniture (a two-seat sofa, two rockers, and a coffee table) and several canvas foldable deck chairs. It is adorned with huge terracotta pots filled with a variety of flowers and plants. It's protected by a wide market umbrella made of natural linen and a Spanish-style, matching-colored canvas canopy.
The outdoor table (for 8) constructed from a patchwork of Vietri tiles is softly lit at night by Moroccan-style candle lanterns and subterranean lighting concealed under the terracotta vases.
The living area is entered by two enormous glass arched doors. It consists of two spacious rooms (about 50 square meters each) with cupola ceilings, a picture window overlooking the sea, and a fireplace. A white sofa, a circular coffee table made of glass and metal, and a set of wicker furniture—a two-seat sofa and two chairs—complement the room's simple yet tasteful décor.
The kitchen (around 20 sqm) is off the open area outside the living area. The eat-in kitchen features a large single glass panel door that overlooks the sea, a wooden table that seats six to eight people, an extra-large travertine sink, a backsplash made of antique Neapolitan tiles, countertops made of wood and tile, an American-size stainless steel refrigerator, a stove that is semiprofessional, an electric oven, and a quiet dishwasher. A Melita coffee maker and several-sized espresso machines are present in the kitchen.

The master bedroom, which is around 19 square meters in size, is equipped with a queen-size cast iron canopy bed from the 19th century and receives light and views of the sea through a big single glass panel door.
The wall across from the bed features built-in wardrobes and a workstation with a computer, printer, and fax machine that allows for round-the-clock access to the Internet. The bathroom (about 5 square meters) has a handmade Vietri tile floor and walls painted in the Venetian spatula style. The sink, bidet, and shower are situated on a travertine countertop.
The second bedroom is a charming internal space that is only around 13 square meters in size. It has two twin beds that may be connected to make a king-sized bed. There are built-in closets with drawers on the wall across from the bed.
The bedroom opens onto a large second bathroom (10 sqm) with Vietri tiles on the floor and hand-painted orange Venetian spatula walls to make up for its smaller size. A travertine countertop houses a sink, bathtub, bidet, and shower.

Downstairs. There are about twenty exterior steps that descend to the basement terrace. A wide handcrafted outdoor table of Vietri tiles allows you to eat or drink in front of the breathtaking view of Positano and the Mediterranean Sea, shrouded by cotton curtains and a bougainvillea pergola.
A gorgeous grass lawn in front of the terrace is maintained year-round by a sprinkler system.
Adjacent to an ancient pomegranate tree on the right is a massive, intricately crafted pottery vase.
The smaller apartment's 15 square meter master bedroom has an arching wall made entirely of glass that overlooks the sea.
Adjacent to the room, the about 6-square-meter bathroom features a Vietri tile floor and is painted using a hand-made Venetian spatula technique. The travertine countertop houses the sink, shower, bathtub, and bidet.
The living area, which is about 40 square meters in size and has two white sofas, is next to the master bedroom, which has a glass wall that allows it to have a wonderful view of the sea and access to the terrace.
The kitchen, with its travertine marble sink, dishwasher, retro-style refrigerator, and handmade Vietri tile backsplash, is divided from the living room by a sizable wood dining table.

The botanical garden. A vegetable garden, hidden beneath the lawn and on the side, is tended by a gardener who plants wonderful wild arugula, potatoes (for which Praiano is renowned), eggplant, tomatoes, and herbs. When in season all of this product will be available to you.

The pool area. The fruit-lined approach to the pool area (laced with plum, apricot, and lemons) is 20 more steps down and to the right. It will seem like your own private heaven when you relax by the pool under the pergola and gaze out at the sea, Positano to the right and Capri on the horizon.
Six collapsible deck chairs and three tasteful steel lounge chaises let you take advantage of the breathtaking view while lounging in the shade or remaining in the sun.
The unexpected sensation of being able to swim directly into the sea is created by the pool's infinity edge toward the ocean. The fourth terrace is a little distance beyond an outdoor shower, tucked up among stones and an iron cupola covered with bougainvillea.

This is also shaded by lemon trees and faces the sea, Positano, and Capri. A handmade circular ceramic table and four iron seats sit beneath the pergola shaded by lemon trees. It's the ideal location for sunset beverages.

In the Area

The enchanting village of Praiano, hidden in the heart of the Amalfi Coast, has long been the favorite choice of famous people. Notable guests from the Grand Tour era were also welcomed, including Maurits Cornelis Escher, Jackie Kennedy and Pablo Neruda. A touching reminder of the past, when fishermen brought in their catch for the locals, is the deep fjord of Furore with its hidden beach and spiral staircase.

Not far away is the charming, hilly, multicolored hamlet of Positano. Positano is a place where you may see color reflected in the serene sea, the shimmering silver stone beach, and the stunning Santa Maria Assunta cathedral with its majolica dome wherever you look. Each residence is decorated in gentle pastel colors and rises from the ocean. An endless spiral staircase connects the homes to the highest slopes.
